- Judy Chicago will not partner with her home city of Belen, NM, on opening a museum after residents called the artwork “inappropriate” and “pornagraphic.” Her nonprofit has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the art space and Belen Mayor Jerah Cordova will donate his 2019 salary to help support the museum.
- Josie Lopez has been named the new Curator of Art at the Albuquerque Museum. Born and raised in Albuquerque, Lopez graduated with an MA from Brown and a PhD from UC Berkeley. Prior to her new position, Lopez was the curator at 516 Arts.
- FOLQ, a new LGBTQIA+ community center, opened on Fox Road in the space that used to house East of West gallery. The center, run by PRIDE Santa Fe, aims to bring together the disjointed queer community in Santa Fe.
- Singular Couture is closing in Santa Fe. They are having a closing sale 66 E. San Francisco Street that runs through Sunday, Dec 30.
